England is definitely one of the most influential countries out there. It has hundreds of years of history, and as a country or tourist destination, it has at least thousands of things to do and see. This makes it very popular for people who like to travel – because it’s popularly said that unless you’ve travelled to England, you haven’t seen anything!

Windsor Castle in England is a must-see. It’s one of the oldest inhabited places in the world – you can book a tour of it practically any time of the year. The Castle itself has been the home to the monarch of England for over 900 years; today it is known as one of the three official residences of the Queen. The Castle was first built by William the Conqueror way back in 1070, today it should be on top of your things to see in England.

If you’re interested in hiking, head to the Lake District – this is a must for those who’ve never seen English countryside. Check out the beautiful series of lakes, and you can walk along the trails. Plus, there are plenty of pubs in the area, where you can get the famous English pub experience, and perhaps also sample some of the famous Fish n’ Chips!

While you’re in England, you simply must check out some more English and Scottish castles – as they are rich in history and culture. Some of these castles date back hundreds of years, and if you can book yourself on a good tour, there’s nothing like it! You can literally immerse yourself in centuries-old history. And if you have time on your trip, take an hour’s bus ride from London, to the city of Bath – here you can find one of the oldest Roman bathhouses in all of Europe. Today this has been well restored and converted into a restaurant – you can drink some English tea and sample some sandwiches, looking over the bathhouse.

Canterbury Cathedral must be seen too. It’s one of the oldest cathedrals in all of Europe, and it has a surprising history to its credit – you should know that numerous murders and burials have happened within the very walls of this cathedral. It dates back to the year 597, and you can book a tour for this quite easily – a tour of this is really pretty fascinating. Plus the archives that this cathedral holds go back many centuries, recording thousands of births and deaths in the area.

Of course, you mustn’t leave England without seeing the Buckingham Palace, which is one of the best known monuments of the world. It’s the official residence of the Queen, and when Her Majesty is inside, you’ll be able to see a flag outside. Do check out the changing of the Royal Guard, if possible. It’s a very popular UK attraction; you can see it outside Windsor Castle as well. Try a tour of the palace, but only certain sections of the Palace can be viewed. The best time for a tour of this Castle is during summer.
