Taking a tour of Ireland encompasses so many wonderful sites and historical monuments. Although Ireland is a relatively small area of land, it is packed with interesting and vibrant places from exciting cities to cosy villages and an unspoilt coastline that stretches for miles.

Getting to Ireland couldn’t be easier and the most relaxed way to travel is to take a ferry to Ireland. There are a number of ferry companies that cross the Irish sea, and this is an ideal way to travel if you are considering travelling by car.

The weather can be a little wet but that would explain why everywhere is so green and lush. One of the most upbeat of cities in Ireland is Dublin with its great mix of modern and the more traditional. It is a wonderful place to be in a crowd and enjoy a buzzing nightlife. Dublin has an interesting mix of bars, clubs and restaurants and more than enough activities to keep the culture hungry happy during the day. Trinity College Dublin, Temple Bar and the Guinness Storehouse are all huge draws for visitors to Dublin.

No trip to Ireland would be complete without a visit across the borders to Northern Ireland and the Giant’s Causeway, one of the world’s great wonders. A truly wild and natural phenomenon that has formed a black basalt and chalk white landscape with amazing views along the coast which is as beautiful as it is unspoilt.

A trip to Donegal is full of remote and empty beaches and is home to the Glenveagh National Park in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains with over 16,000 hectares inhabited by red deer.

Galway with is mountains, remote villages and Atlantic coastline is another ‘must see’ location. The city is small enough to explore on foot with its network of cobblestone streets and ancient pubs. There is a city museum and art galleries and when night falls, enjoy its Galway’s entertainment with street performers and traditional Irish music.

Another great Ireland attraction is the county of Kerry its history is full of romance and traditional music. Kerry is the fairy tale Ireland, with its sleepy villages and pretty harbours and locals that enjoy a slower pace of life amongst its sheep filled lanes and craggy coastline. If your trip to Ireland can include a visit to Cork it would be a shame not to visit the Blarney Castle where the great and the good kiss the Blarney Stone. The Stone of Eloquence sits in the 600 year old Tower and anyone who kisses it will never be lost for words

Estonia may not be a very popular tourist destination right now, but we tell you that it’s catching on nonetheless. Lots and lots of people are travelling to this country to experience Estonian history, arts and cultures, as well as food. There is plenty in Estonia that could appeal to the discerning traveler.

Do try some cross-country skiing, this is a hugely popular sport here, and the most appropriate place to do some skiing is in Otepaa – the resort town. In fact, Otepaa is where the cross-country skiing world cup is held too. You should also pay a visit to Haapsalu, which is a small town set on the western coast. Since the 19th century, it has been quite well-known as a resort. If you’re going to Estonia with your special one, then do head to this place as its really romantic, with the wooden houses and tree-lined avenues.

You will find that Estonia is full of national parks, what’s more – the forests and bogs are still relatively unspoiled, compared to modern standards. So take time off to explore the beautiful Estonian countryside, and see the pretty old fishing villages and even the historic manor houses. There are three national parks in Estonia – Lahemaa, Vilsandi and Soomaa. Estonian wildlife mainly comprises of bears, elk, lynx, and wolves. You can also head to the Kaina Kay Bird Reserve or even the Matsalu Nature Reserve to see eagles, storks and other kinds of wetland birds.

One of the most unusual traditions in Estonia is the Wife-Carrying World Championship. This is a really ancient tradition that was brought back to life in the 1990s, and now it has become a very big part of life with the Estonians. So you should definitely try to take part in this.

If railways are your cup of tea, head to the Railway Museum in Haapsalu. There you will be able to see unusual trains on the wide-gauge track, and there is even a ‘train-graveyard’ behind the museum where you can go to pay your respects!

Estonian beaches are really very picturesque. You can take in some nice sunbathing on the white beaches – there are also many pools and lakes in the country’s interiors. If you’re in the north of the country, then you can find many small coves which are used for nude bathing. Saaremaa Island is a must-see; its beauty is not just breath-taking, what makes it even more appealing is the fact that it’s so unspoiled. If you want to do some hiking and cycling, then there are good opportunities for that as well.

Otepaa offers a lot in terms of outdoor activities – you can try some canoeing, or if you’re there in the winter, take in some skiing. Then there is St. Nevsky Cathedral – which was built between 1894 and 1900 as a Russian Orthodox Church. You should check out the Russian style onion-domes, which have eleven bells, weight 15 tons! The interiors of this church are worth checking out as well!

England is definitely one of the most influential countries out there. It has hundreds of years of history, and as a country or tourist destination, it has at least thousands of things to do and see. This makes it very popular for people who like to travel – because it’s popularly said that unless you’ve travelled to England, you haven’t seen anything!

Windsor Castle in England is a must-see. It’s one of the oldest inhabited places in the world – you can book a tour of it practically any time of the year. The Castle itself has been the home to the monarch of England for over 900 years; today it is known as one of the three official residences of the Queen. The Castle was first built by William the Conqueror way back in 1070, today it should be on top of your things to see in England.

If you’re interested in hiking, head to the Lake District – this is a must for those who’ve never seen English countryside. Check out the beautiful series of lakes, and you can walk along the trails. Plus, there are plenty of pubs in the area, where you can get the famous English pub experience, and perhaps also sample some of the famous Fish n’ Chips!

While you’re in England, you simply must check out some more English and Scottish castles – as they are rich in history and culture. Some of these castles date back hundreds of years, and if you can book yourself on a good tour, there’s nothing like it! You can literally immerse yourself in centuries-old history. And if you have time on your trip, take an hour’s bus ride from London, to the city of Bath – here you can find one of the oldest Roman bathhouses in all of Europe. Today this has been well restored and converted into a restaurant – you can drink some English tea and sample some sandwiches, looking over the bathhouse.

Canterbury Cathedral must be seen too. It’s one of the oldest cathedrals in all of Europe, and it has a surprising history to its credit – you should know that numerous murders and burials have happened within the very walls of this cathedral. It dates back to the year 597, and you can book a tour for this quite easily – a tour of this is really pretty fascinating. Plus the archives that this cathedral holds go back many centuries, recording thousands of births and deaths in the area.

Of course, you mustn’t leave England without seeing the Buckingham Palace, which is one of the best known monuments of the world. It’s the official residence of the Queen, and when Her Majesty is inside, you’ll be able to see a flag outside. Do check out the changing of the Royal Guard, if possible. It’s a very popular UK attraction; you can see it outside Windsor Castle as well. Try a tour of the palace, but only certain sections of the Palace can be viewed. The best time for a tour of this Castle is during summer.

According to Egyptian tourism statistics, a first time visit to Egypt will surely not be your last. There is plenty to see and do to keep you busy for months, with new and exciting contemporary attractions and revisiting the awe-inspiring ancient monuments in the deserts. One of the main focus spots on any tour to Egypt is the city of Luxor, located on the banks of the Nile, some 400 miles south of Cairo. Here you will thrill to the underground works of art carefully preserved in the Valley of the Kings, visits the ancient temples dating from the Old, Middle and New Kingdom pharaohs and spend the day basking on the tranquil banks of the Nile.

Many Egypt holiday tours include the city of Luxor in the Nile cruise package deals, but for the traveller who takes their antiquity adventure seriously, the cruise itinerary does not leave enough time to fully explore Luxor. The best option to see everything at a leisurely pace is to book yourself into a Luxor hotel for at least three nights.

The hotel prices (visit Dealchecker to get the best prices) in Luxor are at least half the nightly rate of the pricey Cairo accommodations, making a stay here an affordable deal for most budgets. Three, four and five-star accommodations are clean, spacious and many are centrally located for walking to the city’s main attractions to include the Open Air Museum, the Luxor Museum, the Mummification Museum and the temples of Luxor and Karnak.

Some of the most dependable and reasonably priced hotels include the Luxor Sheraton, located about 3 miles from city centre. Transportation back and forth is no problem with bus service provided to the main vein of the Corniche el-Nil, located in front of the famous Old Winter Palace Hotel.

To escape the bustle of Luxor and retreat to tranquillity at night, the island hotel owned by Movenpick is your ticket to paradise. Other hotels in the vicinity that are off the beaten track include the Luxor Hilton, situated about 4 miles from city centre and the low-rise Sofitel Karnak Luxor, situated about a 15 minute walk to the Temple of Karnak.

An excursion into the desert for Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens and a grand tour of Theban mortuary temples is easily arranged from your hotel concierge. If you have an adventurous streak and don’t mind heights, try a hot air balloon ride over the valley there are early trips for a sunrise journey across the desert.

Most of the must-see monuments are located on the West Bank and may be accessed by vehicle over the bridge or by taking a boat to cross the Nile. Fares are cheap, but be sure to tip your captain or the kid that helps you on and off the boat.

Dining options in Luxor are not as vast as your choices in Cairo, and for health standards in the kitchens, it’s best to eat at the five star hotels. Steaks, seafood, Japanese and traditional Egyptian fare are widely available for lunch and dinner, and there is a dinner and Egyptian dance floor show offered at the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel in central Luxor. This ancient city is the most visited destination in Egypt, and chances are, you will return again.

The Philippines is strategically situated that getting in and out of it is not that difficult for a tourist. The country’s major cities like Manila and Cebu serve as gateways to the outside world, and a range of airlines, including the Philippine Airlines, fly from different points of the world to the Philippines and vice versa.

You can usually get in the Philippines though air, although if you will come from Malaysia or Indonesia, you can opt to go by sea without experiencing so much hassle. Understandably, you would need a passport when traveling to this country whether it is for business or leisure purposes. Visa is required if you intend to stay longer than three weeks.

Once already in the Philippines, you can have plenty of transport options. For your utmost convenience, you can rent a car or ride a cab. However, the ultimate riding experience would be to ride a jeepney. A jeepney is a public vehicle commonly used in the Philippines. You can also go by bus for longer journeys and by tricycle for very short trips.

Getting out of the Philippines to return to your homeland will not be a hassle as well. If you used the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila as your entry point, you may want to try the Mactan International Airport in Cebu for your exit. This is advisable if your last tourist destination was Cebu or an area near that.

The abundance of transport options should not make it difficult for you to arrive at your choice of international airport in time for your international flight. What would be difficult, however, is to overcome the sad feeling of leaving Philippines. The nation is so easy to fall in love with that leaving it after just a few days of visit can be affecting indeed.

While Spanish is the official language spoken here, people in some parts also speak English.

If you’re planning to pack your bags and head for an extravagant vacation then Costa Rica is a country you should head to. It has got a wonderful tropical climate, snorkeling/ scuba diving activities in its clean and warm temperature water, a tropical lagoon with awesome waterfall, golfing activities, white water kayaking and last but not the least the admiring scenery and the varied reserves of rare animal and plant life. You can certainly see that the country might be small in area but it offers all the pleasure that a tourist looks for during holidaying.

The major parts of tourists are concentrated on the pacific region, San Jose, Nicoya Peninsula and in the forests of Guanacaste. So if you like the crowds then you know which places to explore on your visit. However if you’re more of the silent and quite admirer then the less crowded places are the beaches at the southern pacific coast, the national park at Corcovado and also the eco friendly places on the Caribbean side.

Costa Rica has some of the best beaches in the world. Some of them are Corcovado, located on Costa Rica’s OSA Peninsula; this is famous for the black sand beaches. If you’re looking for the best surfing spot then Dominical would be a great place to visit. For experiencing the night life and casinos, you should probably get to the San Jose city and explore the Jaco. For shopping and tasty dining you should visit Tamarindo, and for the most crowded beach on the Caribbean side head for Tortuguero.

If you are a serious Rafting fan then Costa Rica is the place for you. Statistically, the country has more rivers per square km, then any other country in the world. The Turrialba River has always been at the topmost position to attract maximum tourists and then comes the Sarapiqui River. For kayakers, the EL General River has gained maximum attention for its adventures and large playground.

For the sport of fishing you should head to the Pacific side as it has marine life ranging from Sailfish, Marlin, Dorando, Tuna, Wahoo, Roosterfish to Snapper.

For surfing activities Playa Negra and Playa Grande are favorite spots for the tourists. Even Dominical and Pavones beaches are known to get thick waves for surfers.

Lastly, there are many biking destinations as well in here as it has great mountain biking routes. The most popular being the dirt road at the foothills of Turrialba and Arenal Volcanoes.

Geography

Located in the Southeast of Asia, the Philippines occupies more than 300,000 square miles and boasts of around 7,107 islands (more when it’s low tide). The archipelago is divided into 3 major islands – Luzon (the largest), Visayas, and Mindanao. These 3 represents the three stars on the Philippine Flag. In Luzon seats Manila, the capital of the country which is the center of various activities.

As part of the western Pacific arc system, the Philippines is home to many beautiful and active volcanoes. Unfortunately, this makes it prone to earthquakes, too. It also lies on a typhoon belt.

Climate & Seasons

The Philippines enjoys two seasons – the wet season and the dry season. The climate is described to be tropical wet. Heavy rains are expected between the months of May and October brought about by the summer monsoon. From December to February, the air tends to be a lot cooler, but drier. Generally, it is hot and humid in the Philippines, particularly in Manila and the low-lying areas between the months of March and May, with temperature averaging 35 to 37 degree Celsius. The sun can be particularly harsh around this time, and everyone is advised to stay indoors between 10 o’clock in the morning till 3 in the afternoon or to wear sunblock, sunglasses and a hat when going out.

Storms and typhoons are common from the months of July to October, but many of them can be very treacherous, especially in the northeastern and eastern parts of Luzon, Bicol, and the Eastern Visayas. The last decade has been particularly challenging for the country, especially when it comes to climate issues. The Philippines is no stranger to storms; many have passed by the country and left casualties after lashing out its fury.
